A campaigner who had climbed to a ledge high above Queensway in Admiralty to display banners of opposition to proposed changes to the extradition law has died after plunging to the street.
The Hospital Authority confirmed the man's death. Eyewitnesses at the scene said he was treated by paramedics and appeared to be unconscious as he was taken away by ambulance.
The man had been in position atop the Pacific Place mall displaying anti-extradition banners since late afternoon, taking up his post soon after Chief Executive Carrie Lam announced that the bill would be suspended, but not withdrawn.
He had unfurled a banner saying: "Entirely withdraw China extradition bill. We were not rioting. Released students and the injured". RTHK
